Whitestone home in the Heights

We love when one of our extraordinary custom luxury crafted homes are featured online!

Recently, A Whitestone property was featured by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) in an article entitled, “How Harvey Transformed House-Hunting in Houston.”

In 2017, Hurricane Harvey unleashed its wrath of torrential rain and wind in Houston and the surrounding areas. Widespread flooding was present in many communities.

In the aftermath of Harvey’s destruction, the real estate market changed. Homes located in areas of significant flooding were less desirable, while other communities, like The Heights, received little or no damage became highly sought after.

Due to the storm damage from Harvey, Houston Heights has become one of the most desired communities to live in as it received the least amount of damage from the epic hurricane.

The Heights is a community rich with historical charm and small-town appeal. Its quaint, quiet streets are filled with Victorian and Craftsman style homes with towering expansive trees.

This neighborhood is conveniently located near restaurants, shopping and numerous schools. Its unique character attracts homeowners from many different demographics.

According to the article, a Kaiser Family Foundation and the Episcopal Health Foundation report noted home purchases have increased over 37.2% from 2017. However, 8% of Harvey’s victims have not been able to return home and 15% of homes lost in the hurricane are still unsafe to be lived in.

Houston MLS noted, The Heights saw an 8.2% increase in home selling values in 2018 over 2017.

The Wall Street Journal featured one of our amazing transitional styled homes. This home is over 4,800 sq. ft., has 4 ½ bathrooms, and 4 bedrooms.
